Covid-19 Protocols

Alliston Veterinary Services is pleased to announce that our office will be allowing clients into the office with their pets as of March 3rd.

We ask that upon arrival, please remain in your vehicle or outside of our office and call 705-434-2500 to check in. We are trying to limit clients waiting in the waiting room. To facilitate this, once checked in and an exam room is available, a client service representative will be in touch to bring you and your pet into our office and will escort you to the exam room. We also ask that all clients who are coming into the office fill out our covid-screening before their appointment.

While you are in the office with your pet for their appointment, we kindly ask that you wear your mask at all times and not bring any food or drinks in with you. We also ask that only one family member comes in with their pet at this time and if bringing multiple pets that we only have one in the exam room at a given time. This is to limit crowding in the exam room and to facilitate a stress-free appointment for your pet.

For clients who enjoy the curbside service, we will still have that available. Please advise at the time of booking the appointment what you would prefer.

For euthanasias, our dedicated compassion room will be open to having two family members present for the euthanasia. More family members are welcome to come but we ask that we limit the amount of people to two in the room at any given time.

With the advances in digital x-ray technology, we can now manipulate the digital images that we take off a pet’s systems to see what is wrong. This has allowed us to detect things like hairline fractures and orthopedic conditions that were previously not visible. We share these digital images with specialists who consult with us on difficult cases.

Radiology (x-rays) is routinely used to provide valuable information about a pet’s bones, gastrointestinal tract (stomach, intestines, colon), respiratory tract (lungs), heart, and genitourinary system (bladder, prostate). It can be used alone or in conjunction with other diagnostic tools to provide a list of possible causes for a pet’s condition, identify the exact cause of a problem or rule out possible problems.

Because we believe that pets throughout the Alliston area deserve the best possible care, we have invested in a state-of-the-art, high-quality digital veterinary x-ray machine. With digital radiographs, the veterinarians at Alliston Veterinary Services are able to diagnose a very wide range of medical conditions with more speed and accuracy than compared to x-rays taken with a standard x-ray machine. We can quickly take highly detailed x-rays, manipulate them to gain a better view of your pet’s bones and internal organs, and then display them on a computer for you to see. We can even provide consultations on digital radiographs via telemedicine and walk through your pet’s radiographs with you.

  • Images can be quickly shared via email to specialists when a second opinion or additional diagnosis is needed or sent directly to you.
  • Your pet’s time on the x-ray table is reduced because fewer images need to be taken.
  • Digital x-rays eliminate the need to use toxic chemicals in the film development process, decreasing the risk of exposure to our staff and the environment.
